Our mission is simple.
We support organizations that work with young adults through creating awareness and promoting prevention related to suicide and depression and providing hope to those affected by it.
We have chosen to focus specifically on young adults - between the ages of 15 and 25 - during a decade of intense changes in their lives. As they journey through finishing high school, navigating college, and starting a professional career, they will also be going through a myriad of shifting, changing relationships - with parents who are adjusting to having an adult child, with friends, and with romantic partners. Through providing stability, support, and intervention, we aim to help them successfully navigate their journey to adulthood.
Since 2021, we have raised over 1 million dollars, which was donated to our partners.
We miss Sam dearly. He was always the funniest person in the room, a tremendous athlete and competitor, and, more importantly, a beloved friend, brother, and son. Unfortunately, his story of a life cut short by suicide is far too common in today’s world, especially among young adults. We want to continue to remember the joy and impact Sam’s life had on us and to support organizations focused on helping others struggling with similar obstacles to those Sam struggled with.
Who We Support
Young Adults
Young adults ages 15-25 experience unprecedented change, which can lead to increased stress levels, poor mental health outcomes, and potentially self-harm. We aim to help these young adults safely navigate this decade of change.
Family and Friends / Support
Mental health issues impact the entire family. Friends may not know how to help a loved one or when to intervene. We want to provide friends and families with resources to help those they love. No one should struggle in isolation.
Mental Health Partners
The Sam Asbury Foundation is passionate about amplifying and accelerating the work of our mental health partners. We partner with a variety of organizations working to better mental health among those aged 15-25 and support research, education, and prevention of suicide among this population.
The Fight Against Suicide
The Fight Against Suicide is a high-energy amateur boxing event that raises funds for local mental health organizations and The Sam Asbury Foundation. Through education, awareness events, and the fight itself, we create a supportive, stigma-free space where students can rally together for mental health. This dynamic event sparks important conversations and reminds participants and spectators alike that seeking help is as courageous as stepping into the ring. Together, we are stronger in the fight against suicide.
