Stephanie Johnston
Executive Director
Stephanie Johnston serves as Executive Director of The Sam Asbury Foundation, partnering with the Board of Directors to advance the Foundation's mission of saving lives through awareness, prevention, and hope. With graduate degrees in Counseling and Professional Writing and more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience in the United States and internationally, Stephanie has dedicated her career to helping organizations and leaders navigate seasons of growth, transition, and meaningful change.
Throughout her career, Stephanie has launched and led initiatives that strengthen organizations, develop leaders, and foster meaningful community partnerships. She helped build Be Rich and Intersect at Browns Bridge Church as part of North Point Ministries' annual generosity initiative. Since its launch in 2007, Be Rich has mobilized more than 57,000 volunteers and raised over $100 million, all of which has been given to carefully vetted nonprofit partners serving communities locally and around the world. She later led the launch of Atlanta Connected Communities, bringing its vision to life as a multicultural ministry serving apartment residents and staff throughout metro Atlanta. Fluent in Spanish, Stephanie spent seven years living and serving in southern Spain, partnering with churches, immigrant and refugee communities, and NGOs throughout Europe and North Africa. She has also consulted with dozens of nonprofit organizations, helping leaders strengthen their organizations for long-term sustainability and greater community impact.
Today, Stephanie works alongside an exceptional team of educators, researchers, clinicians, school leaders, and community partners to expand The Sam Asbury Foundation's prevention initiatives throughout Georgia. Together, they are building a comprehensive, evidence-informed approach that equips schools and communities with practical tools to strengthen belonging, build resilience, improve youth mental fitness, and save lives through prevention.
Whether serving individuals, organizations, or communities, her goal is simple: to leave every person, place, and organization better than she found them.
